Tregear Presbyterian Preschool and Early Intervention Service
We aim to provide a friendly, caring and educational environment for children and parents. We believe that each child is an individual who works and develops at their own pace. Your child is considered to be a unique human being, who is important regardless of their race, culture, religion, gender or socioeconomic background and deserves the respect and the opportunity to receive a high quality education. We aim to provide a stimulating environment to encourage creativity, exploration, investigation, independence, decision making and cooperation within the activities provided, thus meeting each child's needs and interests and providing a stimulating and enjoyable experience for all. We believe that children learn through play. Therefore we strive to create an environment that is warm, welcoming, safe nurturing and flexible. Within this environment evaluation, reflection, flexibility and change is fostered and valued Communication between staff and parents is important
thereby encouraging family involvement in order to promote consistency
between home and the centre. We aim to provide support resources and
share out knowledge to the benefit of all
The centre is accessible to all people regardless of race, gender, disability, sexual preference, religion, philosophy, cultural background or HIV status. We aim to meet the needs of socially & geographically isolated people and those who are financially disadvantaged. The centre will ensure to the best of its ability that carers and parents have available to them information about assistance and referral for required services; the right to privacy, to be treated with dignity and to refuse assistance; the right to discuss how the projects services are delivered to them; and the right to access mechanisms without fear of recriminations Priority of placement within the centre is given to children in the year before they are eligible to commence school and to those with special needs. This is in accordance with the regulations set by the Dept' of Community Services. The centre is run under the auspices of the Property
Trust of the Presbyterian Church of NSW. It is a non-profiting mission
of the Tregear Church, run by a parent and church member Management
Committee
The programme is developed and is on display weekly, to promote the healthy growth and development of each child to their potential. Qualified & highly experienced staff provide an inclusive setting for all children, supported by volunteers on a daily basis in either the Kangaroo or Possum Room. Children are assessed on arrival at the centre and
a report will be formally available in August. You are welcome at any
time to speak with staff about your child. Children assessed with high level additional needs will be offered a position in our Koala Room. This group has only six children with two staff and each child's individual needs are a priority. Children with Autism, low functioning language and behavioural difficulties often thrive in a small group environment. The programme is a visually based one. As every child at our centre is special we welcome
your enquiries.
The Centre is open 9.00 am to 3.00 pm - 5 Days per
week in the NSW Dept' of Education School Terms.
Fees are charged on a sliding scale according to your gross income as per DOCS regulations. Childcare Benefit is available to certain parents/guardians
who meet the criteria which further reduces fees. Fees are payable two
weeks in advance and payable even if your child is absent.
Parents are welcome at all times. As the child's first and most important teacher we value your input about your child. You can join in at the preschool on the Managment Committee, or at the canteen, or covering books, or reading to the children or in any way you wish to do.
